One was an all-American. So, it was definitely an honor and a surprise.”She coaches her daughter’s town team in the Saugus soccer system, she says, “because it’s good to give back ? to see all the coaches who helped me on my way up.”One of her last Saugus youth coaches, she said, was the late Ted Moriello, who died last year after many years on the sidelines at Saugus High.Four other new inductees were honored at the ceremony: former basketball coach Brian Meehan of Quincy, men’s basketball players Tishaun Jenkins ’07 of Worcester and Robert Michalczyk ’05 of Lowell, and hockey defenseman Nick Stauder ’03 of Milford, Conn.Meehan directed the men’s basketball program for seven seasons and led the Vikings to an impressive record of 160 wins and 39 losses (.804), during his tenure. His teams captured seven straight Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season titles and six MASCAC postseason championships and Salem State earned six straight trips to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament culminating in a Final Four appearance in 2000.Named a first-team All-American his senior season, Jenkins led Salem State to its first and only Final Four appearance in 2000. During his four years, Salem State captured four straight MASCAC championships and three postseason championships.A two-time team captain, Michalczyk led Salem State to four straight MASCAC. He finished his Salem State campaign with 1,164 points and earned team MVP honors three years in a row.A transfer player from the University of Connecticut, Stauder led the Vikings to three straight MASCAC championships. He led the team in scoring his senior season, and was named an All-American in 2003.
