Lynn holds first annual Elementary School Cross Country Championships

Lynn Woods was a busy place on Saturday, with plenty of runners dashing along its tree-lined paths. Only on this occasion they were a little bit younger.The first annual Lynn Elementary School Cross Country Championships took place at Lynn Woods this past weekend, with many students displaying both enthusiasm and excellence.The race was sponsored by the Lynn Parks and Recreation Department.In the boys team scores, Cobbet was particularly well represented. Cobbet won the boys K-2nd grade division with 20 points, thanks to the team of Miguel Buret, Angel Buret, Allan Meono, Christopher Kadri, Daeshon Anderson, Miguel Hiciano and Ali Almansouri. The school also placed second in the third grade division (41 points) with a team of Elmedin Latifi, Moises Ortiz, Eddinson Ce’spedes, Abmir Pulinario, Cristian Zavala and Raymond Gutierrez.Three other schools placed in the boys team competition. Shoemaker placed second (36 points) in the K-2nd grade division with Nicholas Galeazzi, Ben Louf, Patrick Kasper, Grant Floyd and Ashton Todisco. Sisson and Ingalls won the third grade and fifth grade divisions, respectively. Sisson (16 points) won with Jared DeFillipo, Vance Spina, Ryan McMahon, Kenny Wilson, Sean Calnan and Nathan Uhunsere; and Ingalls (15 points) won with Aldo Zacarias, Samuel Adewale, Aden Mohame Adan, Rodlun Barnes, Joshua Jones and Duglas Miranda.Meanwhile, in the girls team competition, both Sisson and Cobbet particularly distinguished themselves. Sisson won two divisions: K-2nd grade (26 points, with Jamie Kidney, Abigail Constine, Rosalie Spina, Madison Spencer, Shea Kidney and Danielle Wilson) and fourth grade (24 points, with Sydney Spiess, Catherine Perez, Abigail Morris, Samantha White, and Caitlyn Troubetaris).Cobbet placed second in K-2nd grade (29 points, with Chelsea Dela Rosa, Jennifer Merida, Destiny Lorenzo, Jennifer Sandoval, Jameri Hiciano, Sarah Blaney and Kelly Haja); won third grade (15 points, with Victoria Kadiri, Sophonie Alcindor, Celina Chea, Nathalia Mazile and Wilkelna Bourdeau); and placed second in fifth grade (36 points, with Rhode Alcindor, Rosseirys De La Rosa, Dyaysia Long, Angeline Gonzalez, Tamira Lowry, Briana Blaney and Jessica Hernandez).Also placing in the girls competition were Harrington, second in the fourth-grade division (32 points, Mayan Ventura, Denise Gomez, Glendryth Martinez, Melirene Castro, Vanessa Paul and Victoria Campos); and Ingalls, which won the fifth-grade division (20 points, with Erika Santana, Zainab Abdelkaby, Kamilo Abdi, Felicia Much, Rosarie Teixeira, Magdeline Lora and Kristal Estevez).The top three runners in each race are as follows:GIRLSFirst grade: Abigail Constine, Sisson, 6:32; Lesli Cax Niz, Ingalls, 7:11; Madison Spencer, Sisson, 7:13; second grade, Keri Clougherty, St. Pius, 5:55; Chelsea Dela Rosa, Cobbet, 6:15; Jamie Kidney, Sisson, 6:19; third grade, Victoria Kadiri, Cobbet, 5:36; Katherine Clancy, Sisson, 5:37; Sophonie Alcindor, Cobbet, 5:54; fourth grade, Sydney Spiess, Sisson, 8:22; Mayan Ventura, Harrington, 9:07; Camille Archer, North Shore Christian, 9:11; fifth grade, Isabelle Giannopoulos, Aborn, 8:46; Victoria Adams, Aborn, 9:00; Rhode Alcindor, Cobbet, 9:04.BOYSFirst grade: Michael Tringale, St. Pius, 5:34; Yassine Bakhouch, Lincoln Thompson, 5:41; Jesse Maggs, Sisson, 5:58; second grade, Miguel Buret, Cobbet, 5:00; Angel Buret, Cobbet, 5:01; Luis Abarca, Aborn, 5:16; third grade, Eusebio Quintana II, Shoemaker, 4:51; Jared DeFillipo, Sisson, 5:06; Tyler Drinan, Aborn, 5:08; fourth grade, Brendan Landry, Sacred Heart, 8:13; Connor Galvin, St. Pius, 8:17; Abraham Gonzalez, Harrington, 9:06; fifth grade, Jack Carroll, Shoemaker, 7:43; Brett Thomas, St. Pius, 7:57; Aldo Zacarias, Ingalls, 8:32.
