The Tech boys soccer team was in a tight game early against Greater Lowell, but Tech dominated the second half and went on to win 3-1 at Manning Field Thursday.Leading the way for Tech was the duo of Francisco Franco and Gustavo Rodriguez. Franco scored two goals that were both assisted from Rodriguez. Jose Diaz chipped in with one goal. Tech coach Fred Gallo was very pleased with his team.”This was another great effort from my team. They played a very strong 80 minutes and that is always good to see,” Gallo said.Tech is now 9-5-2.Revere 2, Swampscott 1At Revere, Revere rallied in the second half, and produced its first come from behind win of the season. Swampscott jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Revere answered with a goal by Andres Herrera, assisted from Wilmer Diaz, to tie the game 1-1. It was a 1-1 tie at the half. Revere’s John Divenuti scored the game winning goal in the 16th minute of the second half. Revere keeper Madir Kaedioui had a strong performance (15 saves). Revere is now 9-3-4.Malden 5, Saugus 1At Malden, Malden jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. The Sachems had a strong team effort despite the result. Dave Velasquez scored Saugus’ lone goal, assisted from Alex Ung. Ung also had a very good day all around. Brandon Wladkowski had a strong performance as well. Peter Pulcari had a strong game in net (15 saves). Saugus (5-11-1) plays Winthrop Friday.St. John’s 1, Central Catholic 0At St. John’s, St. John’s received offensive firepower from an unfamiliar source. St. John’s senior defenseman Jon Touchette scored the lone goal of the game, which was his first career goal. Adam Colella recorded his ninth shutout of the year (3 saves). St. John’s improves to 12-2-2.Marblehead 3, Beverly 0At Marblehead, the Magicians had a strong team effort and recorded their first win of the season (1-14-1). Marblehead had a 2-0 lead at the half. Providing the offense for the Magicians was Rudy Mukania, Nate Cullen and Nicky Alvarez (1 goal each). Freshmen Koby Michaels played his first career varsity game in net and recorded his first career shutout (6 saves).GIRLS SOCCERDanvers 5, Beverly 1At Beverly, the Falcons’ freshman trio of Stephanie Kowalski, Kylie Plaza and Delaney Zecha led the way. Danvers had a 4-0 lead at the half. Plaza scored a team high of two goals. Brittany Russo, Kowalski and Zecha all had one goal each. Becky Landers had a strong game as well (3 assists). Danvers improves to 13-2-2.Revere 2, Saugus 1At Saugus, Revere led 2-1 at the end of the first half, and that is how it ended. Leading the way for Revere was Marissa Parent and Sam Pineau (1 goal each). Marissa Verruto had a strong performance as well. Saugus’ lone goal was by Jackie Russo. The Sachems’ (12-5-1) Kaleigh Evans, Emily Quinlan and CeCe Devine had strong performances. With the win, Revere (8-5-4) qualified for the state tournament.
