Aluminum benches stolen from three Lynn fields

LYNN – Police said aluminum benches were stolen from three Little League fields in Lynn.

East Lynn Little League Vice President Bill Allen said aluminumbenches at Volunteer Field, the softball field at Keaney Park and the benches at the Clarke Street Playground field were stolen.?The benches were cut out,” Allen said. “They were probably sold as scrap. We’ve worked very hard to keep the fields up and the benches at Volunteer Field were just installed a couple of years ago. The benches cost us a couple of thousands dollars.”According to the police report, the incident occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on Thursday and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
AN officer who responded said two benches from the dugouts of the Little League field and softball field were missing. The benches were aluminum with a bench, back and shelf. Allen said bleachers behind the outfield fence of the Little League field were also stolen.

According to police, the gates to the Little League field and dugouts were locked.?Access was gained through the fence,” the report states. “The straps that hold the fence to the poles were taken off.”The incident is under investigation and police are appealing to the public for assistance.Lt.
