City man charged with stealing Little League benches

LYNN – Police arrested a city man this morning in connection with the theft of aluminum benches from a Little League field at Kiley Park.

Derek White, 35, 15 Evelyn St., was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property valued over $250.The thefts at Kiley Park happened Monday night. White was not charged for the benches stolen from three other fields in East Lynn over the weekend.Police Lt. William Sharpe said White was arrested today at approximately 10:30 a.m. at his home.?The Lynn Police had set up surveillance of White based on information provided by an anonymous citizen, which indicated that White may have some kind of involvement with recent thefts of aluminum benches in the city,” Sharpe wrote in a press release.Sharpe said White was known to detectives and there were two arrest warrants out on him.Read Wednesday’s edition of The Item or online atwww.itemlive.comfor complete coverage of the story.
