LYNN – After reading about the theft of benches from Little League fields in the city, a local organization has stepped up to the plate and offered to replace them.

Lynn Shore Little League President Dave Dorgan said he was speechless when he received the call from Lynn Lions. “I was shocked,” he said. “We got the call Wednesday morning telling us it was a done deal and Camp Lions would replace the bleachers that were stolen at all the fields. There are good people in this city, who really care about the kids. It’s awesome.”Dorgan said Tuesday evening he went to the Little League field in Kiley Park with a small bucket and collected what was left of the bleachers.?I picked up a bucket of bolts,” he said. “That’s all that was left. When I got home I was staring at the bolts thinking if we got the seats back maybe we could bolt them back together.”East Little League President Ryan Boisselle said the theft of the bleachers from Volunteer Park has been an emotional roller coaster ride.?We find out Sunday morning we were ripped off and someone is stealing from the youngest athletes in the city,” he said. “Then on Wednesday a community group calls us with a commitment to replace them. This is incredible. It’s so great. It reaffirms my belief that there are great people in this city, who really care about our city and the kids living here.”Camp Lions Vice President Sean Crowley confirmed the organization would replace the missing dugout benches and bleachers at the fields.?Our mission is the betterment of youth in the community,” Crowley said. “We read in The Daily Item about the theft and wanted to do something to help out.”Check out tomorrow’s Daily Item or here atwww.itemlive.comfor the complete story.
