LYNN – An Ipswich man who was struck by a northbound commuter train at Lynn’s Central Square Station Thursday night has died.Adam “A.J.” Pike, 24, was hit by a train on the Newburyport-Rockport line around 5:30 p.m. Lynn police, firefighters and medical crews rushed to the station and found Pike pinned under the train. Rescue workers were able to free him within minutes and a helicopter airlifted him to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston where he died later that night as a result of severe head injuries.The MBTA police are investigating the accident, but as of Friday night they had no further information to release.According to a witness, Pike was on the tracks and tried to jump out of the way of the oncoming train.Pike, who graduated from Ipswich High School in 2003, was the son of Franklin M. Pike, formerly of Lynn and the grandson of the late George R. Pike. Three of his aunts, Jean “Jeannie” Pike, Catherine Recupero and Jean Pike currently live in Lynn.
