SALEM – A former Lynn woman, facing a mandatory five years in prison for again dealing narcotics, remains held at the state prison for women on $30,000 cash following her arraignment.Diana J. Perry, 34, formerly of 13 Cedar St., Lynn, entered her plea of innocent to a charge of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, subsequent offense.Salem Superior Court Judge Timothy Q. Feeley agreed to set the high bail of $30,000 with the option the defense will have the opportunity to argue bail at a later date.In the meantime, Perry remains held at Framingham State Prison for Women awaiting trial. The charge arises out of her arrest in Lynn on Oct. 20 when police stopped her in a motor vehicle on Summer Street and reportedly seized six bags of cocaine from her person. At the time of her arrest, Perry was on suspended sentence with three years of probation for distributing narcotics involving a case out of Peabody in 2002. She pleaded guilty last fall on narcotic changes and had been in default on the case for five years.Because Perry has prior drug convictions, she faces a minimum mandatory punishment of five years in state prison if convicted as charged. She is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 24 for a pretrial conference.Perry also has a probation violation lodged against her for being arrested on a new drug charge.Assistant District Attorney Christina Pujals Ronan is prosecuting the case and Bradford E. Keene is the defense lawyer.
