Local bars, eateries offer full slate of events

LYNN – Several local restaurants and bars will be bringing in 2011 tonight with some special New Year’s Eve celebrations.Sand Bar and Grill in Lynn will have karaoke starting at 9 p.m., followed by a champagne toast at midnight, says bartender Darlene Rydicki.”We are expecting a large crowd,” says Rydicki. “We have been hearing from a lot of the customers that they plan on joining us for our New Year’s Eve celebration.”She adds that people are welcome to arrive decked out in their New Year’s gear and the bar will supply traditional noise makers and New Year’s hats for customers. “There will be music and dancing and a lot of noise making at midnight,” says Rydicki. “It’s been a lot of fun in the past and we hope people will join us in bringing in 2011.”Sand Bar and Grill is located on 714 Washington St., Lynn.Tatiana’s Bar in Lynn will have a $10 buffet and a champagne toast at midnight.Owner Norma Delgado, whose bar is at 70 Market St., says she expects a lot of their local customers to join them for celebrations.”We want to extend our invite to everyone; customers, friends, family, even children,” said Delgado. “We will be having a safe, healthy New Year’s Eve celebration. We will have a lot of music and a lot of fun. People don’t have to drive far and spend a lot of money to join us.”The Blue Ox, 191 Oxford St. in Lynn, will have regular dinner service from 5 to 10:30 p.m.The chefs will be offering some special New Year’s Eve specials, says manager Lyle Rudloff.He says the restaurant doesn’t typically bring in a huge bar crowd, but he expects that a lot of customers who are looking to have a nice dinner for New Year’s Eve will stop by.”It’s definitely a busy night for us but we don’t really have a huge bar crowd,” said Rudloff. “We hope our location will encourage people to stay safe and off the roads. We are wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year’s.”Located only six miles from downtown Boston and just steps away from the MBTA Blue Line, The Wonderland Entertainment Complex will have live music starting at 10 p.m. with DJ Adriano. They will also be hosting its fourth annual Red Carpet Ball featuring JR Rodigan, Riddim Rider, DJ Dexx and more, starting at 10:15 p.m. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and proper dress is required. The party goes until 2 a.m. The celebration is $18 in advance and there will be free champagne offered at midnight. There will also be a special contest for individuals to win $500 to begin the new year. The Wonderland Entertainment Complex is located at 1920 North Shore Road, Revere.Boston headliner/actor Mark Scalia will be performing with Joe Espinola, 2010 Boston Comedy Festival Finalist Matt D. and 2010 Witch City Comedy Festival winner Chris Dimitrakopoulos for a live comedy show at Onion Town Grill in Danvers tonight at 9 p.m. People are invited to arrive earlier for dinner in the restaurant, or stay late for a champagne toast in the pub. Comedy tickets are $25. The Onion Town Grill is located at 175 Water St., Danvers.Turbine Wine Bar, 56 Central Square, is also having a New Year’s celebration, while Red Rock Bistro, 141 Humphrey St., Swampscott, will have the Johnny Ray Band on at 8 p.m. The bar will supply noisemakers and hats. Kowloon, 958 Broadway, Saugus, will feature Beatlejuice, a Beatles cover band. A cost of $65 includes a dinner buffet, tax and gratuity reserved seats, champagne toast and party favors.
