The victim later identified the television as his and was allowed to take it back. The victim said the incident began when he heard two men yelling outside his apartment door. When he opened the door to see what was going on, words were exchanged with Carrasquillo, which resulted in the victim being punched in the chest and Carrasquillo punched in the mouth. After the victim managed to shut and lock his door, he said he heard someone breaking his door down with a hammer and Carrasquillo allegedly forcing his way into the apartment with a large knife. In fear, the victim said he ran outside and flagged down a police cruiser.
