SALEM – A Lynn man who allegedly robbed three Dunkin Donuts as well as a Starbucks in Swampscott and a Lynn drug store during a four-week crime spree to “pay bills” has been indicted by an Essex County grand jury.Tony Goffredo, 28, of 4 Broad St., is charged with three counts of armed robbery while masked as well as armed robbery and unarmed robbery in connection with robberies in Lynn and Swampscott.Authorities say on Oct. 29, he walked into the Crown Drug Store, located at 232 Lewis St., while masked and demanded money, fleeing the store with an undetermined amount of cash.Three days later, on Nov. 2 while disguised and armed with what appeared to be a gun, he allegedly stole $130 in cash from the Dunkin Donuts at 116 Lewis St. and two days later, Nov. 4, he robbed the same Dunkin Donuts of $80.Then on Nov. 22 he is accused of stealing $240 in cash at gunpoint from Starbucks in Vinnin Square, Swampscott and on Nov. 27 police say he again robbed the Dunkin Donuts on Lewis Street of $70 for a third time. However, following that holdup, brazen employees chased him and subdued him following the robbery until police arrived at the scene.Goffredo apparently admitted to the five robberies and said he “did it to pay bills.”Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan is prosecuting the case for the state. The indictments handed up now move the case from Lynn District Court, where Goffredo has pleaded innocent, to Salem Superior Court where he will be re-arraigned within a few weeks. In the meantime, he remains held at the Middleton Jail on $40,000 cash bail.
