Lynn woman takes stage in ‘Lend Me A Tenor’

The Daily ItemREADING – The upcoming production of Lend Me A Tenor at Reading’s Quannapowitt Playhouse will feature the onstage talents of Lynn resident Angela Rossi, along with comedic chaos on a truly operatic scale.The farce by Ken Ludwig takes place on a single day in 1934, when everyone at the Cleveland Opera Company is on pins and needles with the arrival of famed Italian Opera star Tito Merelli, who is slated to perform the title role in Othello. But when Tito appears incapacitated, the company manager Henry Saunders comes up with a plan to salvage the occasion by having his assistant Max impersonate the famed divo? What could possibly go wrong?Rossi is featured as Maggie Saunders, the star struck daughter of the company manager and girlfriend of Max, among a cast that also includes Paul D’Onofrio (Medford), Penny Hansen (Jamaica Plain),?Shawn Maguire (Reading), Mark Morrison (Georgetown), Liz Robbins (Burlington), Elizabeth Sheeran (Wakefield) and Brad Walters (Malden). The play is directed by John Pease of Wakefield and Monica Bruno of Lynn is the stage manager.Rossi, a graduate of Salem State’s nationally accredited Theatre Department has been performing on stage in comedies through out the New England area. She was last seen this summer in Natick’s TCAN Players production of “Twentieth Century” as well as the Nashua Theatre Guilds production ofNeil Simon’s classic “Rumors”. Some of her past favorite roles have been that of Brooke Ashton in “Noises Off” where she performed the role at both Salem State and for Theatre to Go of Wakefield. She has also been featured in many roles at the Burlington playhouse, her most current role with the Burlington Players was as Suzette in the farce “Don’t Dress For Dinner.”If You Go?Lend Me A Tenor runs from Jan. 28 through February 12 at 55 Hopkins Street in Reading, with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee on Feb. 6.
