SALEM – A Lynn man and a Salem woman were indicted Wednesday afternoon on separate crimes involving receiving stolen property as well as a drunken driving case by an Essex County grand jury.Winston Forbes, 47, of 331 Eastern Ave., Lynn, stands charged with receiving stolen property, stemming from his arrest in Lynn on the morning of Aug. 29, when he was seen by police carrying a 19-inch flat-screen television down Estes Street. The television had been reported stolen earlier that day. Forbes has prior convictions for receiving stolen property.Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan is assigned to prosecute the case. Also indicted was Lorna Nassor, 41, of 33 Upham St., #2, Salem, charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, having a blood alcohol level of .08 or greater, fourth subsequent offense, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol having been previously convicted three or more times, operating after suspension of her license, subsequent offense, operating a motor vehicle recklessly and misleading an investigator. The charges arise out of an incident in Swampscott on Jan. 3 when Nassor allegedly was involved in a two-car collision at 120 Paradise Road at 6 p.m. Police say Nassor, driving a purple Honda Civic, sideswiped another car and then apparently tried to blame two other people, saying she was only the passenger. Witnesses, however, put her in the driver’s seat as the operator of the Honda.Authorities say Nassor registered a .13 on the blood alcohol test. The driver in the vehicle hit by Nassor was taken to Salem Hospital for neck and back pain, according to reports. She has three prior drunken driving cases, police said.Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Kirshenbaum is prosecuting the case for the commonwealth.Indictments are not an indication of guilt, rather it is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court, allowing for a more severe punishment.
