MARBLEHEAD – Police say a 16-year-old Marbleheader will appear in Lynn juvenile court today in connection with a brawl that left a trio of Marblehead and Swampscott teens bloodied and beaten on Thursday. The minor was arrested on a warrant and is facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, following the afternoon beating on Rowland Street. The fight broke out around 2:30 p.m., where police responded to a report of an assault and battery involving a large group of teens armed with a baseball bat and a pipe-like device. Three teens were found at the scene, each bleeding profusely from injuries to their heads. In an effort to stop the bleeding, officers administered first aid to the victims and had them wrap shirts around their heads until medical crews arrived. During that time, police pieced together information about the fight through questioning and witnesses. One person pointed toward a particular teenager from Marblehead, who police say thought the incident was “humorous” because the fight had been talked about at the high school earlier that day.Police say they had been advised of a possible fight at the fire access road behind the Post Office, but managed to ward off a large group of teens that had gathered there, causing the group to disperse.A short time later, the groups arrived on Rowland Street and continued their argument. Blood was found on a driveway near the attack, along with additional droplets of blood nearby.Based on a description of the suspects detailed by witnesses and others, police determined that there were two groups that ran from the area. All three victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.Police say additional arrests are possible as the investigation is ongoing.
