MARBLEHEAD – Residents are invited to meet the candidates for superintendent of schools next week.Finalists will be selected this weekend and they will visit the town to meet, greet and be publicly interviewed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Each candidate will meet the public in forums from 2:40-4:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at the Marblehead Veterans Middle School.Parents, teachers, staff, students and community members are invited to listen to the candidate, ask questions and fill out a survey. The meetings will begin with a student exhibition. At 7 p.m. each day, the candidates will also be interviewed by the School Committee in public in the Marblehead High library. The preferred candidate will be announced at next Thursday’s School Committee meeting. The superintendent search formally began in November when the School Committee hired the national search firm Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) as search consultants. This weekend the consultants will recommend the top five candidates that fit the district’s leadership profile to the Superintendent Screening Committee for consideration. The screening committee is a body of diverse individuals who will use the leadership profile and the School Committee’s criteria to evaluate the candidates and narrow the slate from five to three. Those finalists will be sent to the School Committee Sunday for final interviews and selection.
