The Fenwick boys basketball team overcame an 18-point deficit with the help of a magical fourth quarter, as the Crusaders defeated Williams in overtime 83-79 at Fenwick Tuesday night.Fenwick was down 72-67 with 16 seconds left in the game when Alex Morsey drove all the way into the paint for a layup to make the score 72-69. Fenwick created a Williams turnover and called timeout with four seconds left. Morsey was fouled right away with 3.5 seconds left. Morsey hit the first free throw and missed the second on purpose and the ball ended up off Williams and back to Fenwick. Billy Klemczuk hit the game-tying jumper to send the game into overtime. The Crusaders took that momentum and never looked back. Fenwick coach Mike Kane was very proud of his team’s performance.”My team played a heck of a game tonight. They never had their heads down, they just kept playing hard and good things happened. I am very happy with my team’s performance tonight,” Kane said.Leading the way for Fenwick was Morsey, who had a monster game (42 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals). Mike LaChance had a strong game as well (12 points, 10 rebounds). Fenwick is now 3-9.Somerville 53, Revere 50At Somerville, Revere had a 13-point lead at the half but could not keep up that pace in the second half. Revere was outscored 34-18 in the second half. Revere coach Rick Hayes was satisfied with his team’s performance.”My team just did not execute on easy opportunities. My team played with the right effort and intensity but just did not get the right result this time,” Hayes said.Playing well for the Patriots was Chris Palladino. Palladino had a team-high 13 points and added six rebounds. Trae Weathers had a strong game for Revere as well (9 points, 13 rebounds). Revere (3-5) hopes to bounce back Thursday against Chelsea.Winthrop 74, Innovation 20At Winthrop, senior Jonathan Barnani-Spinazola had a night to remember, scoring a career-high 30 points with 15 rebounds. Winthrop improves to 8-4 with English at home on Friday.GIRLS BASKETBALLRevere 71, Winthrop 34At Winthrop, the Patriots (11-0) had a big night from Morgan Jenkins, who had 24 points, Caitlyn Caramello, 12 points, and Marisa Parent, 10 points. Kat Prince (9 points) and Gena Restiano, eight points, also helped out.Williams 57, Fenwick 48At Braintree, the Crusaders led in the third quarter, but couldn’t hold off Williams down the stretch. Amy Pelletier and Sarah James each had 10 points for Fenwick (6-7). The Crusaders play Cardinal Spellman Thursday.
