SALEM – A Peabody man caught peddling large amounts of OxyContin in Peabody and Lawrence in 2008 will spend seven years in state prison following his confession Thursday in Salem Superior Court.Jacob Darisse, 30, of 24 Proctor St., #2, made his plea in a deal worked out by the prosecutor and his attorney, thus avoiding a trial.He pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking over 28 grams of opium as well as two counts of distribution of OxyCodone and a single count of conspiracy to violate the drug laws before Judge John T. Lu.Darisse could have faced up to 15-years in state prison on one of the charges, if convicted, which was reduced down from trafficking over 100 grams of opium to trafficking over 28 grams.He will have to serve the entire seven years behind bars before he is eligible for release. The execution of the sentence was stayed until Feb. 11. In the meantime, Darisse remains free on $100,000 cash bail.The judge agreed to follow the recommendation reached by Assistant District Attorney A.J.Camelio and defense lawyer Bernard Grossberg.Camelio said the charges arise from four hand-to-hand drug deals with an undercover officer in Peabody and Lawrence during a five-week span beginning on Aug. 27, 2008.
