Its not often that a team can go scoreless for nearly the entire fourth quarter of a game but still come out with a win. Yet that was exactly the case for the Revere basketball team against Swampscott on Friday.The Patriots had a 10 point lead heading to the final quarter before the Big Blue charged back to tie the game. Greg Cabral then got Revere the win as he drove to the basket and banked home a shot with 2.8 ticks remaining for a 57-55 Patriots win.”We couldn’t hit a basket in the fourth quarter,” Revere coach Rick Hayes said. “But we played real good defense too.”Cabral and Sean Quiroz led the Patriots with 16 points each. Swampscott (1-12) got a standout game from Mike Walsh, who also had 16 points. Brian Sullivan, Dan Santanello and Matt Duquette all had 10.Classical 66, Gloucester 63At the Benjamin A. Smith Field House in Gloucester, the Rams (8-6, 6-4 NEC) trailed by as much as 18 in the first half but rallied with a standout defensive effort in the final 16 minutes to take the win.”There were so many heroes in this game,” Classical coach Tom Grassa said.Nick Grassa had a game high 26 points to lead Classical while Josh Cheever had 15 points and 17 rebounds. Gloucester was led by 16 points from Jordan Shairs and 15 from Adam Philpott, who was held to just two free throws in the second half.English 70, Winthrop 60At Winthrop, the Bulldogs (12-1, 9-1 NEC) were forced to play a slow down game by the Vikings but were able to pull away in the fourth quarter.”It was close all the way,” English coach Buzzy Barton said. “Winthrop made us play their style and it was a tough game.”Travonne Berry-Rogers was brilliant for English in the win, finishing with 27 points. Keandre Stanton added 22 and Corey McMillen had 13.Tech 91, Northeast 61At Wakefield, the Tigers (7-3) got a brilliant 32 point, eight assist effort from Richie Warren Jr and a 20 point game from Michael Duarte in the win. Trey Gallo added 18 for Tech.Salem 75, Danvers 74At Danvers, the Witches (9-2, 8-2 NEC) got all they could handle and then some from the hosts as Danvers’ Sean Mehegan had 38 points but it wasn’t enough.”Danvers played really hard,” Salem coach Tom Doyle said. “We had our chances and couldn’t put the game away.”Danvers (5-8) led 21-16 after a quarter and 40-36 at halftime. The Falcons still had the lead going to the final period before Salem put on a run.Antonio Reyes finished with 21 points to lead Salem. Dario and Raphy Medrano had 17 each while Chris Dunston had 15 in his first career start.Marblehead 62, Beverly 48At Marblehead, Matt Temme had 16 points for the 10-2 Magicians and Mike Dusenberry and Brian Gellert chipped in with 14.Marblehead jumped to a 38-20 halftime lead, but Beverly (6-6) outscored the Magicians, 15-6, in the third quarter to shave nine points of it.However, Marblehead reasserted itself in the fourth to re-assume control of the game.Tom Stockwell had 11 rebounds and nine points for Marblehead.Aven Jones (12 points) and Chris Keaton (10) led Beverly.
