LYNN – A pair of Lynn women faced a judge Monday on allegations that they assaulted a mentally challenged man and threatened to report that he raped them if he went to the police.Shawna Lee Lamore, 31, of 145 Lewis St., #20 and Stephanie F. Brandon, 37, of 77 Green St., #11, were each charged with assault and battery on a mentally challenged person and intimidation of a witness. Both suspects were arraigned at Lynn District Court by Judge Albert Conlon and released on personal recognizance under the condition that both abide by a restraining order. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for March 15.According to court documents, Lynn police responded to a report of unwanted guests at a home on Lewis Street, around 9 a.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, police were met by a man who said he was concerned about two women who had stayed over his friend’s apartment, saying they were taking advantage of him because he has a mental disability. The 28-year-old victim told his friend that the women, Lamore and Brandon, had allegedly assaulted him and wouldn’t let him leave his apartment, saying they would accuse him of rape if he went to the police. When officers knocked on the door of the apartment, Brandon answered and claimed nothing was going on in the apartment and that no one else was home besides the victim in question. Police later found Lamore hiding in a bedroom closet and decided to interview the victim to see what was really going on.He allegedly told police that he had tried to get away from the women, but they prevented him by slapping him several times across the face and threatened to accuse him of raping them. The victim told police he was intimidated by the suspects and was afraid of rape charges as they had consented to have sex with him in the past. The victim also said he was afraid of what the suspects would do to him if they were arrested, so police advised him to get a restraining order and not allow people to stay at his home. Police say Brandon became angry and uncooperative once placed under arrest and shouted that she was going to have the victim charged with rape.During booking, police say Brandon insulted everyone at the department, including her spouse, Lamore. Both women claimed they were living with the victim to help him due to his disability.Lamore was also charged with a warrant out of Salem District Court.
