LYNN – Capt. Jim Walsh of Lynn was named a “skillful skipper” Friday by the state Department of Fish & Game because three derby-winning fish were caught aboard his charter boat, American Classic, during 2010.Lloyd Marcom of Revere was also honored for taking the largest halibut in the Men’s Division, weighing 68 pounds, 12 ounces. He caught the halibut from the deck of Walsh’s charter boat, which operates daily from Lynn Harbor.Winners in all categories were announced Friday, said Catherine Williams, spokesman for the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.Two ceremonies were held over the weekend to recognize the freshwater and saltwater anglers who reeled in the biggest fish of 2010 from Massachusetts lakes, ponds, streams and coastal waters.To qualify for the state’s saltwater fishing derby, entries must be caught by hook and line and weighed in at a Division of Marine Fisheries-certified weigh station.The Angler of the Year title went to Danny Grafton Jr. of Weymouth, marking the first time the award was presented to a youth.
