SAUGUS – A Saugus man with a criminal record dating back to 1973 was arrested on Valentine’s Day for allegedly threatening to punch his wife after a late night spat.Daniel David DiBartolomeo, 51, of 399 Lincoln Ave., was charged with violation of an abuse prevention order, domestic assault and domestic assault and battery. He was arraigned Tuesday at Lynn District Court by Judge Ellen Flatley, who ordered him to abide by an active abuse prevention order. A bench trial has been scheduled for April 21.According to court documents, police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife Monday at a house on Lincoln Avenue well known to the department. Upon arrival, police say the victim was sitting in the driveway waiting to talk to them.She said she had gotten into an argument with DiBartolomeo, whom she claims grabbed her shirt with his left hand and swung a punch at her with his right hand, stopping just a few inches away from hitting her.She claimed DiBartolomeo said for her to sleep with her eyes open because he was “going to get her.” After hearing that she feared her husband, police attempted to speak with him, but he allegedly yelled from his home that he “wasn’t going anywhere” and slammed a door in an officer’s face. After two officers pushed their way into the home, DiBartolomeo was arrested and taken to the department for booking.Police say the victim took out an abuse prevention order against DiBartolomeo on March 22, 2010, which remains active until March 22, 2011.
