Classical kids wise beyond their years

LYNN – Many Classical High School students interviewed recently say they think it?s wrong for high school students to date older men.Their comments come after The New York Post reported that New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez “hooked up” with 17-year-old Eliza Kruger, a high school senior, after they met in a club.Leah Penny, a Classical student, said she doesn?t think it?s right for high school girls to date someone as old as Sanchez, who?s 24.?If someone who?s 24 wanted to date me, I?d be freaked out. That?s bad. He?s six years away from 30,” Penny said. Her friend and Classical student Samantha So agreed.?Someone who?s 17 and someone who?s 24? It just doesn?t go together. She isn?t even 18 yet.”When asked what her age limit for dating is, So said, “I?m turning 16, so mine is 18. As long as they?re still in high school.”Seniors Robert Coleman and Sophal Long said it?s typical for freshman girls to date upperclassmen at Classical High. But Neither Coleman nor Long thought there was anything wrong with those kinds of relationships.?Some of the relationships are okay, and some of them aren?t. It all depends on the people,” Coleman explained.Fifteen-year-old Tyianna Parra said many of her girlfriends prefer to date older guys.?A lot of girls date guys a few years older because the younger guys are too childish,” she said.Parra said anyone 20 or older is too old for her.And as for Sanchez he would definitely be too old, she said.?It?s really not good, but I guess if they like each other then, oh, well,” she said.Classical student Erin O?Donnell said it?s OK to date someone who is older, but not too old.?Twenty or older is just too old because their lives just aren?t the same,” O?Donnell said. “Someone who?s 17 dating someone who?s 18 or 19 is fine, but the range has to be small. Twenty-four is not ever okay.”
