Northeastern Conference names boys hockey All-Stars

The Northeastern Conference has selected its boys hockey all-stars.On Feb. 26 at Salem State, the 48 selected athletes will be on display in the NEC All-Star game.Headlining the NEC North All-Conference Team are the North Co-MVPs: senior Jake Rand, defenseman (Winthrop) and senior Mitch Hamor, forward (Beverly). Rounding out the North are: Andrew Irving, defenseman (Beverly); junior Chris LeBlanc, forward (Winthrop); senior Joe Scarfo, forward (Winthrop) and junior Steven Waites, goalie (Winthrop). NEC North coach of the year was Bob Gilligan (Beverly). The NEC North regular season champion was Winthrop.Leading the NEC South All-Conference Team is South MVP senior Jake Kulevich, defenseman (Marblehead). NEC South coach of the year was Joe Conlon (Lynn). The rest of the NEC South team is sophomore Kyle Devin, defenseman (Lynn); junior Gino Cresta, forward (Swampscott); senior Chris McLeod, forward (Marblehead); senior Ryan Dempsey, forward (Marblehead) and senior Tony Cuzner, goalie (Marblehead). The NEC South regular-season champion was Marblehead. The NEC South team sportsmanship award was presented to the Lynn Jets.The rest of the NEC All-Stars are: defenseman Mike Paulson, forward Nick Clewer (Winthrop); forward Connor Irving, goalie Tony Walsh (Beverly); forwards Brian O’Keefe, Jack McCarthy, Joe Strangie, defenseman Chris Milne, goalie Seth Kamens (Danvers); defensemen Ryan Noftle, Nico DiSalvo, forwards Eric Muise, Rob Houghton (Peabody); goalie Nick Hegarty, defensemen Dan Groark, Steve Spinney, forwards Drew Oxley, Kurt Rodrigues, Mike Kotowski, Saige Tait (Saugus); defenseman Connor Cranston, forwards Johnny Interrante, Jeff Kennedy (Gloucester); defensemen Ben Koopman, Hunter Whitmore, forward Alex Whitmore (Marblehead); goalie Nick Comeau, forwards John Finnigan, Jordan Morelli (Lynn); goalie Jeff Redding, forwards Dale Paradise, Joe Corbett (Revere); defenseman Trevor Massey, forward Matt Videtta (Swampscott); forwards Jesse Wilkins, Eric Rosengren (Salem).All-Stars from Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Marblehead and Lynn will comprise one team; the other team is Winthrop, Saugus, Gloucester, Revere, and Swampscott. Salem will be represented with one player on each team. There will be an on-ice skills competition, featuring all of the NEC All-Stars at 2 p.m., and the game itself will take place at 3 p.m. Admission to the skills competition and game will be $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
