LYNN – A fire ripped through a third-floor bathroom of a home at 67 Lowell St. on Wednesday afternoon. The fast moving fire broke out around 1:30 p.m., with Lynn firefighters arriving on scene within minutes and quickly extinguishing the blaze.Homeowner Albert Lacey said he was at work at Lucky Strike Lanes on Buffum Street when he got a call from a relative that his home was on fire.?I?m afraid to look inside,” Lacey said while looking at his fire-ravaged home. “I just had the third floor completely redone two months ago.”A total of 12 people, including Lacey, live in the home, which he has owned since 2003. His cousin, David Stevens, was the one who found the fire.?I heard the alarms going off and saw that the bathroom was engulfed in flames, so I quickly slammed the door shut and ran out,” he said. That move most likely kept the fire from spreading throughout the home, according to Deputy Fire Chief James McDonald.?That was the absolute best thing that could have been done,” he said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.Lacey said three cats live in the home, but he was unsure if they had been accounted for.Lynn Arson Investigator David Legere was unavailable for comment.
