Andrew Dewing of Swampscott will be one of three captains on the Eastern Connecticut State University baseball team this season. The program has qualified for 38 NCAA Division III and NAIA tournaments under coach Bill Holowaty, and has won 14 regional championships, 14 Little East Conference regular-season and post-season tournament crowns, and four national championships. The Warriors open their northern season in late March and play their season-opener Sunday at Kean University at 1 p.m. Their spring trip is March 18-25 in Arizona. This year, there are ten seniors – one of the largest such classes in program history – returning from last year’s LEC regular-season champion and NCAA Division III tournament qualifier, which went 31-15.Returning seniors who were regular position players from a year ago include Dewing, who is a first baseman. He will be a tri-captain along with outfielder Jim Schult and righthanded reliever Chris Wojick. Dewing is expected to be in the heart of the batting order.
