LYNN – The Lynn teen charged with building seven bombs that recently exploded in the Lynn area was released Tuesday on house arrest.Michael Ranelli, 18, of 45 Piedmont St., appeared in Lynn District Court for a dangerousness hearing before Judge Albert Conlon, who released him on the conditions that he remain on house arrest unless he is at school and he must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.He was also given a curfew beginning at 6 p.m., which will last until 6 a.m. In addition, Ranelli is to remain drug and alcohol free, be subject to random screenings, report to probation twice a week, continue with mental health counseling and not have contact with the victims or any suspects in the case.He is scheduled to return to court on April 5 for a probable cause hearing.On Feb. 21, Ranelli allegedly took part in placing and igniting two explosive devices at 6 Bowler St., where one detonated. Additional blasts happened the same day, with one in Peabody, another on York Road and two others on Conomo and Rockdale avenues.A resident on Bowler Street reported an explosion in front of his home shortly after midnight on Monday. When he ran outside, he found a 4-inch long cardboard tube with a 3-inch diameter packed with flash powder.Lt. William Sharpe said no one was reported injured in the blasts and that the investigation remains active and ongoing. An anonymous tip led police to Ranelli on Thursday, prompting investigators to search his father’s Piedmont Street home and his mother’s 2007 Honda Accord.At the suspect’s arraignment on Feb. 25, Ranelli’s father, George, said his son is “very sorry,” that the teen thought he was “playing with fireworks” and that he “wasn’t trying to hurt anybody.” Ranelli has no prior criminal record.
