SALEM – An Everett man who allegedly stole more than $400 from a sports bar’s Keno cash register last month was one of two men indicted Wednesday afternoon by an Essex County grand jury.Alexander John Soledade, 30, of 11 Argyle St., #1, Everett, is charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery in connection with a robbery at JD’s Sports Bar.According to reports, it was before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 when Soledade walked into JD’s Sports Bar, located at 159 Lewis St., and apparently grabbed $400 plus from the Keno cash register. The female bartender told authorities she saw Soledade scoop up the money and try to run out of the bar, knocking a patron onto the floor.Customers attempted to stop him, but he was able to get away, jump into a car and take off.Swampscott police began chasing a vehicle that matched the description provided by witnesses. Soledade was eventually stopped by Salem police on Surrey Road where witnesses from the bar identified him as the robber.Inside the vehicle a bag was found containing approximately $439 in bills along with some change.Assistant District Attorney Jean M. Curran is prosecuting the case for the state. Also indicted was Sean MacDonald, 22, of 35 Tudor St., #12, Lynn, charged with possession of ammunition, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and a felon in possession of ammunition having three prior violent crimes. The charges arise from his arrest on the morning of Nov. 5 when police went to MacDonald’s apartment with a warrant and said they confiscated 41 rounds of ammunition for a .38 caliber handgun along with a quantity of marijuana.Because MacDonald has three prior violent crime convictions, he is facing a 15-year mandatory sentence on the felon in possession charge, if convicted.Assistant District Attorney Jessica Strasnick is assigned to prosecute the case.
