March 16, 2011 by Robin Kaminski

LYNN – An Everett man was busted for allegedly selling 20 grams of heroin to an undercover officer following a lengthy investigation.Oswaldo Acevedo, 39, of 57 Winthrop Road, was charged with trafficking over 14 grams of heroin as well as a school zone violation. He was arraigned Tuesday at Lynn District Court by Judge James Wexler and ordered held in lieu of $15,000 cash. A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for April 19.According to court documents, Acevedo was arrested in September 2010 for the illegal sale of firearms and later indicted and arraigned in Salem Superior Court. That case remains open and pending. Then, in December 2010, an informant told police that Acevedo had moved on to allegedly selling heroin and that he dealt in “multiple finger transactions,” fingers being 10 grams of heroin.During the investigation, police learned that Acevedo was allegedly meeting his source of heroin at an apartment building in Lynn at 5 Hamilton Ave.Over the course of several months, police set up surveillance on Acevedo, where they saw him allegedly visit the apartment on numerous occasions. On March 3, an officer with the Suffolk County Drug Task Force spoke with Acevedo and arranged to purchase “two fingers” of heroin at $1,300.The two agreed to meet in the Walmart parking lot on the Lynnway, where Acevedo allegedly made sure the undercover officer had the money. They then drove to meet the heroin supplier on Boston Street and then traveled to Flint Street, where the transaction of 20 grams of heroin took place. On Monday, detectives traveled to Acevedo’s Everett apartment, where they arrested him and drove him to the Lynn police department for booking.
