SALEM – A Salem Superior Court judge continued the $5,000 cash bail for a Peabody man who was arrested last fall on child pornography charges as part of a “cyber crime sweep.”Barry Bushway, 47, of 26 Tumelty Road, Peabody, was arraigned Thursday and pleaded not guilty to four counts of possessing child pornography as well as a single count of distribution of obscene sexual material.Judge John T. Lu agreed to set the same bail amount and pretrial conditions and continued the case to May 13 for a pretrial hearing.In the meantime, Bushway remains free on bail and has been ordered not to use a computer or the Internet, except for work purposes between Monday through Friday.He also is to have no unsupervised visits or contact with children under the age of 18, excluding his minor children and must report once every two weeks in person to probation until his case is resolved.The investigation began in early July 2010 by Attorney Martha Coakley’s Cyber Crime Division in which the agency began investigating the sharing of child pornography files over the Internet by numerous individuals throughout the state.Investigators executed search warrants at locations around the state.Bushway was one of seven people arrested in late October and faces charges of possessing, disseminating or participating in the sharing of the images of child pornography.The allegations state the incidents against Bushway occurred on or about April 10, 2010 and Oct. 26, 2010 and depict children under the age of 18 on film participating in a variety of sexual acts.
