Fight over stolen mail leads to assault on elderly Revere man

REVERE – A Revere man allegedly assaulted a 77-year-old man in his own home on Wednesday.The suspect, Buford Dale Drake, 41, of 54 Highland Ave., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a victim over 60 years old.According to Revere Police, a report of a disturbance was called in around 1 p.m., on Highland Avenue, where the victim said Drake allegedly banged loudly and persistently on his back door. When he opened it to see what the commotion was, the victim claimed Drake violently pushed the door open and hit him in the head.Police say they saw a bump on the victim’s forehead. Drake had allegedly accused the elderly man of stealing mail over a long period of time from his mailbox from the multi-unit building that they both live in. Drake was allegedly uncooperative with police, shouting obscenities and racial slurs as he was placed under arrest.
