LYNN – A homeless man was busted for allegedly dealing cocaine near English High School on Tuesday, following several anonymous tips placed to the police.Ali Jameal McMillan, 21, was charged with trafficking cocaine over 28 grams and a drug violation near a school. He was arraigned Wednesday at Lynn District Court by Judge Ellen Flatley, who ordered him held on $7,500 cash bail. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for April 5.According to court documents, detectives with the Lynn Police Special Investigations Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of Tucker Street following several complaints that had been made via the Text-a-Tip program regarding drug sales. On Monday, undercover officers had stopped several people suspected of buying drugs, including marijuana (which was seized), in the same area.During the surveillance on Tuesday, a detective saw a black male get out of a car on Tucker Street, walk over to another car where he lingered for a few minutes and then get back into his car. Officers followed the car and stopped it on Goodridge Street.A passenger in the car, McMillan, was seen reaching into his coat pocket while holding a plastic shopping bag. Police say McMillan, who was recently arrested for possession of a firearm, said he was reaching for his cellular phone, even though it was on his lap. At that point, he was ordered out of the car and pat-frisked. Police allegedly found a large bag of cocaine on him, which was determined to be one ounce. A bundle of cash, $550, was also found in his pocket.During McMillan’s booking, police examined the bag of cocaine and found another bag inside it containing two additional smaller twists of cocaine. In all, 30 grams of the drug were seized.
