SALEM – A former Lynn man whose first-degree murder conviction of his girlfriend seven years ago was recently overturned by the Supreme Judicial Court remains held without bail at the Norfolk state prison.Jerome McNulty, 32, was convicted in 2004 of the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend, Linda Correia, 27, and attack of her 10-year-old daughter and babysitter inside her apartment at 10 Peabody St., in Salem on March 29, 2001.He was sentenced to life in prison without parole on the murder charge.The SJC ordered that McNulty get a new trial on the murder conviction of Correia, citing a delay by police in getting instructions to McNulty that a lawyer had been assigned to him by the public defender?s office and that the lawyer wanted him to stop talking to officers.McNulty appeared Tuesday morning in Salem Superior Court before Judge David A. Lowy on several issues, including his bail.Assistant District Attorney Jean M. Curran requested that McNulty be held without bail. Defense lawyer Fran L. Robinson stated she was not opposed to the request at the time.
