LYNN – A Bridgewater man racked up this third charge of operating under the influence on Thursday, after police found him driving an alleged stolen car with a blood alcohol level of .10 percent.Scott Gauthier, 45, of 68 Spring St., #1, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, using a motor vehicle without authority, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. He was arraigned Thursday at Lynn District Court by Judge Antoinette Leoney and ordered held on $750 cash bail. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for May 2.According to court documents, a State Trooper responded to a report of an accident on the Lynnway at Blossom Street, around 1 a.m., and was directed to the area where the driver fled. The trooper found the car traveling slowly on Alley Street while leaking fluid and with damage to the front right corner and bumper. After pulling the car over, the trooper noticed that the driver side air-bag had deployed and that the windshield wipers were on even though it wasn’t raining. The driver, Gauthier, told the trooper that he struck a curb on the Lynnway as he was making a U-turn. When asked for a driver’s license and registration, he claimed to not have a license and instead, handed the trooper his release papers from the Plymouth House of Correction. While speaking to Gauthier, the trooper said he detected an odor of alcohol on his breath and asked him if he had anything to drink and where he was going. Gauthier allegedly said he borrowed his girlfriend’s car to visit his sister in Lynn, had a “half-pint of Caldwell Vodka” and was on his way back to Bridgewater. At that point, the trooper had Gauthier recite the alphabet, which he allegedly could not get past the letter G, and had him perform other sobriety tests. After a quick check of the vehicle’s information, the trooper learned that the owner had an active restraining order against Gauthier and placed him under arrest. Several prescription drug bottles were found in the vehicle, which were tucked away in a guitar case.
