SALEM – A Mattapan man authorities say they caught twice with cocaine on his person in Lynn during a one-month span has been indicted by an Essex County grand jury.Eddie Rucker, 26, of 70 Tennis Road, #2A, Mattapan, stands charged with two counts of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, subsequent offenses.State Police Trooper Nicholas Fiore stopped Rucker for a motor vehicle infraction on Commercial Street on Jan. 9 in Lynn and reportedly discovered a small amount of twist cocaine on his person.Then nearly a month later, on Feb. 7, State Police Trooper James Farrell pulled over a vehicle on the Lynnway for speeding. After observing a strong smell of marijuana, the trooper began a pat down of the occupants. The trooper reportedly seized 28 twists of crack cocaine from Rucker, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time.Because Rucker previously was convicted of drug offenses, he faces a minimum mandatory punishment of five years in state prison on each of the charges.Assistant District Attorney Michael Sheehan is prosecuting the case for the state.Indictments are a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court allowing for a more severe punishment. It is not an indication of guilt.
