SALEM – An Everett man charged with robbing more than $400 from a Lynn bar on Lewis Street two months ago, remains free on bail following his arraignment in Salem Superior Court.Alexander John Soledade, 30, of 11 Argyle St., #1, Everett, pleaded innocent Monday to unarmed robbery and assault and battery before Judge Timothy Q. Feeley. As jointly agreed by the prosecutor and defense, the judge agreed to set the same bail amount, $1,500 cash, as previously set earlier in Lynn District Court and continued the case to May 11 for a pretrial conference. It was just before 4:30 p.m., on Feb. 28, when a man, later identified as Soledade, walked into JD’s Sports Bar, located at 159 Lewis St., and scooped up $400 plus from the Keno cash register. The female bartender told police she saw Soledade grab the cash and take off, knocking a 56-year-old female patron to the floor as he fled from the scene.Customers inside the establishment tried to stop the thief, but were unsuccessful as he jumped into a 2011 silver Ford Focus and sped away.Soledade’s vehicle was eventually stopped by Salem police on Surrey Road, where witnesses from the bar allegedly identified him as the robber.Police also found the money inside a bag in the car.The silver Ford he was riding in was apparently rented by his girlfriend at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, with only her name on the agreement.Soledade faces a potential life sentence on the unarmed robbery charge and up to two and one-half years in jail for the assault and battery charge.Assistant District Attorney Jean M. Curran is prosecuting the case for the state and public defender Thomas Pierce is the defense lawyer.
