SALEM – A Lynn man accused of impersonating a police officer for a second time in order to get sex from a woman he threatened to arrest remains free on $5,000 bail, but was ordered to stay away from the victim.John Reis, 51, of 10 Parker Hill Ave., Lynn, was arraigned Monday in Salem Superior Court pleading innocent to charges of kidnapping, indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, attempted extortion and impersonating a police officer before Judge Timothy Q. Feeley.Assistant District Attorney Christina Pujals Ronan said the charges arise out of an incident in Lynn on the night of Oct. 22.The 22-year-old female victim told police she was walking down Union Street when a man, later identified as Reis, pulled up in a dark pick-up truck and ordered her to get inside. When she hesitated, Reis ordered her inside his truck, apparently telling her he was a cop. Reis then reportedly told the victim he was going to arrest her for being a common street walker if she did not comply and have sex with him at her home. The victim told police she was very fearful, but did ask Reis for his badge number. He informed her that if he showed his badge he would have to arrest her, according to police.Reis dropped off the victim at her residence on Alice Avenue, but not before he allegedly fondled her breast.Police arrested Reis at his home a short time later.Reis was arrested in August of 1999 for impersonating a police officer and violating a John law, according to court reports. He is scheduled to be back in court on June 6 for a pretrial hearing.
