Marblehead voters will get chance to question candidates

MARBLEHEAD – The Marblehead League of Women Voters will give people a chance to grill candidates for town office at the League Candidates’ Night Monday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Marblehead High library.Candidates in the contested races ? Board of Selectmen, School Committee, Recreation and Parks Commission and Municipal Light Commission n will take turns answering questions from the League and the audience.All other candidates will be invited.Questions for candidates can be submitted to Shari Pressman at [email protected] or at 781 639-1143.Candidates for Board of Selectmen include former Selectman Harry Christensen, risk management analyst Bret Murray, Cemetery Commission member RoseAnn Wheeler McCarthy and incumbents James Nye, Judy Jacobi, Mike Rockett and Jackie Belf-Becker.Incumbent Dick Nohelty, budget-focused professional appraiser Barton Hyte and Suffolk University English Professor and Gerald Road resident Thomas Connolly are seeking the two available seats on the School Committee.Incumbents Linda Rice Collins, Sam Ganglani, Charles “Chip” Osborne and Derek Norcross are seeking the five seats on the Recreation and Parks Commission, along with two challengers, Warwick Terrace resident David Andrew Deutsch and Prospect Court resident Gerald “Jerry” Tucker.Charles O. Phillips and challenger John Arata are seeking the available seat on the Municipal Light Commission.
