REVERE – A Revere man allegedly snatched a 68-year-old city man’s 14-karat diamond ring early Saturday morning on Johnson Street. The suspect, Pedro Jaime Colon, 22, of 54 Eastern Ave., #2, was charged with armed and masked robbery, armed assault to rob a person over 65 and larceny from a person over 65. He was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court by Judge James Wexler and ordered held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for May 10.According to court documents, police responded to a report of an armed robbery on Johnson Street around 6 a.m. Upon arrival, the victim said he was walking home to Washington Street from Dunkin Donuts, when he saw a man, Colon, standing on the sidewalk. As the victim walked past him, Colon allegedly yelled, “Hey you, give me that ring.” At first, the victim said he resisted, but when Colon allegedly said, “Give me the ring, I have a gun,” he handed it over.Colon then ran down Johnson Street toward Hanover. The ring was described as 24-carat with a half-carat of diamonds in a horizontal row, valued at more than $1,000.About an hour later, police say they caught up with Colon at the MBTA station, who had a ring in his pant pocket. After the victim identified Colon, he was arrested and the ring was returned.
