SALEM – A Superior Court judge Wednesday continued the $100,000 cash bail for a Lynn man police say they caught peddling cocaine.Carlos Ruiz, 33, of 24 Surfside Road, #6, Lynn, appeared for his arraignment, pleading innocent to a charge of trafficking over 14 grams of cocaine, a charge that will net him a mandatory three years in state prison if convicted.Judge Timothy Q. Feeley agreed to continue the same bail that was previously set in Lynn District Court at the joint request of Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Kirshenbaum and defense lawyer Alan Chipman.The defense may seek a bail review at another court date.In the meantime, Ruiz, who also has a federal warrant lodged against him on a conspiracy to violate the narcotics law, remains held at the Middleton Jail.On May 5 shortly after 5 p.m., Ruiz allegedly sold approximately 27 grams of cocaine for $1,200 in cash to a cooperating witness from his apartment.The transaction reportedly was recorded by authorities and the cash used to buy the cocaine was marked, according to reports.Ruiz is due back in court on May 26 for a pretrial hearing.
