The Peabody High boys lacrosse season finally got underway with a 7-6 win over Gloucester Thursday at Peabody.The Tanners (1-0) led 4-1 at the half, but Gloucester took the lead, 6-5, with 6:54 left in the game. Peabody then scored two goals in a four-minute span.Kiefer Heckmann (2 goals, 1 assist) and Jake Clickstein (2 goals) led the attack with Greg Cellantano, Jay Connolly and Nick Oullette each providing single goals. Luke Grayson (12 saves) was solid in net.BC High 9, St. John’s 7At St. John’s, the Eagles (1-3) trailed 4-1 at the half. Prep goalie Blair Friedensohn had a strong game (12 saves). Colin Blackwell had a team-high two goals.Mystic Valley 15, Tech 1At Manning Field, Tech coach Jay Richards was happy with his team’s defense.”My team actually played well on defense, believe it or not,” Richards said. “My team just hopefully will learn from this and take this game as a learning experience.”Tom Constantine scored the lone goal for Tech (2-4).Marblehead 16, Danvers 7At Danvers, Alex Whitmore (6 goals) led the Magicians. Hunter Whitmore, Jacob Maselek, Sam Fox and Ian Maag had two goals each and Brian Gellert and Oliver Gregory, one each. Wilson Lautner (16 saves) was in net.Salem 19, Saugus 3At Saugus, Nick Taylor, Shawn Gilman and Dan Sheehan all scored one goal each for Saugus (0-2). Sheehan added an assist. Mike Venezia had a good game in net (14 saves).Beverly 18, Swampscott 7At Swampscott, Patrick Kennedy had a strong performance for Swampscott (3 goals). Sean Lannon added two goals. Richie Sullivan and Chris Mason each scored one. Mark McMahon had a strong game in net for the Big Blue (1-2).GIRLS LACROSSEMasconomet 13, Marblehead 12At Masco, Olivia Raisner (4 goals, assist); Haley Braun (3 goals, 2 assists) and Tyler Phillips (goal, 4 caused turnovers) led Marblehead (1-1). Goalie Kelly Collins was outstanding in net in the loss.
