SALEM – An Everett man charged with attempted murder and firearm charges will have to come up with $100,000 cash in order to get out of the Middleton Jail until his trial.Chad Quintanna, 21, of 35 Hamilton St., #2, appeared for his arraignment Friday in Salem Superior Court, pleading innocent to armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, two counts of illegal possession of ammunition, two counts of carrying a firearm without a license, two counts of carrying a loaded firearm and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.Judge Timothy Q. Feeley agreed to establish the same bail amount as set earlier in Lynn District Court on the two sets of cases, $50,000 on each, and continued them until May 23 for a pretrial hearing. The defense, however, may seek a bail review at another court hearing. The charges arise out of two incidents in Lynn last year.On Oct. 10, authorities say Quintanna shot at Damian Springer, a 19-year-old Lynn man, outside Caps Convenient store on Adams Street.According to reports, Quintanna pulled up in a green Jeep, got out of the passenger side and fired several shots at the victim. Springer fled from the scene apparently unharmed. The motive appears to be money-related, police said. Then on Nov. 23 around 4 p.m. police say Quintanna was caught with a .38 caliber loaded handgun and a quantity of marijuana after being stopped on Jackson Street by police.Quintanna was a passenger inside the vehicle and apparently admitted the loaded gun found in the car belonged to him.Quintanna faces up to 20 years in state prison on the armed assault with intent to murder charge and a mandatory 18-month jail sentence for possession of a firearm.
