SALEM – An Everett man police say they caught peddling heroin to an undercover officer last month was indicted Friday by an Essex County grand jury.Oswaldo Acevedo, 39, of 57 Winthrop Road, is charged with trafficking over 14 grams of heroin, a crime that will net him a mandatory five years behind bars, if convicted. The allegation arises out of an incident in Lynn on March 2 when Acevedo allegedly sold two fingers, 20 grams of heroin, to an undercover officer on Flint Street for approximately $2,600.At the time of the alleged drug deal, Acevedo was out on bail after pleading innocent on pending firearm charges out of Superior Court. He is scheduled to be back in court on May 17 at which time he is expected to be arraigned on the new indictment.Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan is assigned to prosecute both cases. An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather it is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court allowing for a more severe penalty.
