MARBLEHEAD – Three weeks after they sent businessmen into the corridor to resolve a neighborhood dispute, selectmen had a chance to see good neighbors in action.First Bruce Greenwald and Mark Driscoll came before the board to let them know that the Adams House construction on Front Street has proceeded without further problems.Jay Sahagian, owner of the Barnacle Restaurant, told the board that the agreement he and Greenwald and Driscoll worked out in the hall three weeks earlier “is working out.”?I have no complaints,” he said.Selectmen granted Greenwald and Driscoll permission to continue their project until May 15 at the latest. Then board members spoke with Loretta Lang, manager of Maddie?s Sail Loft, 15 State St., about noise complaints they received from neighbors Janice Hulsman, Jessica Hall and Rose Danner.Lang said Maddie?s had live music March 10, a warm evening, and when she went downstairs a customer opened two windows and an emergency door. “By the time I closed them, the damage was done,” she said.A second incident occurred when Lang was away for a weekend, leaving the volume on the jukebox higher than usual.?I talked with these women and I asked them to call me instead of the police,” she said. “We can work together.”Prompted by Town Administrator Tony Sasso, Lang told the board she closes Maddie?s 15 minutes earlier than usual to make sure that customers are out the door at closing time. She said she could be selling customers an extra round in that last 15 minutes but “I?d rather do the right thing than have the extra money.”Selectman Jackie Belf-Becker told Lang, “I appreciate your being a good neighbor.”
