Jess Raymond hit a three-run homer as Peabody stunned Saugus, 4-3, at Peabody on Monday.”It was close all the way,” Tanners coach Butch Melanaphy said.Saugus, which only had one loss going into the game, took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first before Peabody tied it in the bottom of the inning. The Sachems moved ahead 2-1 in the top of the second, but Raymond’s homer gave the Tanners the lead for good. Saugus pulled within 4-3 with the final run of the game in the top of the third.Krista Caproni pitched the first two innings for Peabody before junior Alexa Battersby came in for five innings of relief.”She (Battersby) shut them down,” Melanaphy said. “I wanted to change up speeds (with the pitching change).
