The Peabody boys lacrosse team shut out the Witches in the last quarter to defeat Salem, 10-7, at Peabody Thursday night.It was tied 5-5 at the half and tied 7-7 going into the last quarter. The Tanners dominated play in the fourth quarter (outscoring Salem 3-0), which was the difference in the game. Peabody coach Kevin Houlden was not only happy with the win but also impressed with Salem’s effort.”Salem played a really good game today. It seemed like when my team was about to break it open, Salem came back and tied the game up. My team played very well today to hold off this strong effort from Salem,” Houlden said.Leading the way for Peabody was Steven Koziski (3 goals). Kiefer Heckman, Jay Connolly and D.J. Henrick all scored two goals for Peabody. Nick Oullette chipped in with one goal. Peabody is now 6-10.Danvers 12, Marblehead 11At Danvers, it was a tale of two halves; the Magicians were up 9-3 at the half but could not close out the Falcons. Danvers outscored Marblehead 9-2 in the second half and overtime combined. The difference of each half was effort, according to coach John Wilkens. Leading the way for Marblehead were Alex Whitmore, Ian Maag and Hunter Whitmore (2 goals each). Sam Fox, Matt Perlow, Oliver Gregory and Jack Clough all scored one goal each for the Magicians. Marblehead is now 9-6.Saugus 15, Lynn 3At Manning Field, the Sachems raced to an 8-1 lead at halftime and never looked back.Click here for a photo gallery.Leading the way for Saugus (4-13) was junior Nick Taylor (7 goals, 1 assist). Senior Dylan Hartigan had a monster performance (4 goals, 1 assist). Senior Dan Sheehan helped out (2 goals, 1 assist). Sophomore Cody Martin had two goals. Senior goalie Mike Venizia had a strong day in net (19 saves). Lynn goal scorers were Alex Arico, Steven Riley and Keith McDonald (1 goal each).GIRLS LACROSSEBishop Fenwick 21, Marian 6At Peabody, Becca Graves had nine goals and Anna Moulton and Lauren Moulton each had five to lead the Crusaders (15-1, 14-0 Catholic Central League). Sarah Buonopane and Colleen Sears helped the cause with one goal each. Kaitlyn McCarthy (4 saves) had a fairly quiet afternoon in net. Fenwick’s only loss came against Ipswich.
