SALEM – A Lynn man charged with raping a 62-year-old woman in his Hamley Street home last November remains free on $1,500 cash bail after pleading innocent. In Salem Superior Court Tuesday morning, Steven Konyaki, 30, of 11 Hamley St., pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape, a crime that could net him 20 years in state prison.Judge Howard J. Whitehead agreed to set the same bail amount established earlier during a bail review and continued the case to June 15 for a pre-trial conference. In the meantime, Konyaki remains free pending the outcome of his trial. The alleged sexual misconduct arises out of a Nov. 4 incident when the victim said she was visiting a female friend and awoke to find Konyaki sexually assaulting her, according to police.Authorities theorize that Konyaki was intoxicated at the time and reportedly made a statement to a witness that he thought he was having sex with a 16-year-old.
