SALEM – A Peabody man who apparently bragged about robbing a North Shore bank of an undetermined amount of money remains held at the Middleton Jail on $25,000 cash following his arraignment in Salem Superior Court.Richard C. Thorne, 29, of 28 Veterans Memorial Drive, appeared Tuesday morning pleading not guilty to a charge of armed robbery before Judge Howard J. Whitehead. The judge set the same bail amount previously established during a bail review hearing in Superior Court two months ago.The charge arises out of a holdup at the Bank of America, at 2 State St., in Lynn, on March 12.Shortly before 1 p.m., a man later identified as Thorne, walked into the bank branch wearing a red ball cap and a red Boston T-shirt and handed the female bank teller a note demanding money. The clerk immediately obeyed and turned over an undetermined amount of cash to the robber, whom then fled.A few days later an anonymous caller contacted police and told them that Thorne “had been telling everyone he robbed the bank.”
