For the fourth season in a row, the Peabody baseball team can call itself champions of the NEC North after rolling to a 16-2 win at Revere on Wednesday.The win didn’t come without a huge cost though as catcher Genaro Ciulla may have been lost for the season after suffering a separated shoulder in the first inning.”It was just a freak play that happened with Genaro,” Peabody coach Mark Bettencourt said. “He was diving back to first and the first baseman fell on him.”Ciulla is scheduled to see a doctor tomorrow to find out the extent of the injury.Aaron Comak drove in three runs in place of Ciulla and Steve Girolamo had three hits and scored four times. Casey Grenier added two doubles, two stolen bases and two runs scored.”We’ve really had some kids step up for us this year,” Bettencourt said. “For us to win this league four times in a row is amazing.”Robbie Pelletier got his first varsity start and win with George Tsonis and Girolamo finishing the game in relief.Marblehead 6, Swampscott 2At the Forest Avenue Fields in Swampscott, Ross Gienieszko held the Big Blue to three hits while striking out seven as the Magicians (12-6, 11-4 NEC) solidified second place in the NEC South.”Swampscott is a good ball club and T.J. (Baril) does a great job with them,” Marblehead coach Jason Tarasuik said.Matt Temme had a 2-run homer and Colton Dana also belted a long ball against Swampscott starter Sean O’Brien.”We got big hits at the right time with runners on,” Tarasuik said.Danvers 5, Gloucester 2At Twi Field in Danvers, Scott Hovey improved his record to 6-0 on the hill as he held Gloucester scoreless until the seventh inning, finishing with seven strikeouts and one walk.Nick Gikas drove home a pair of runs for the Falcons (16-4). Zach Ryan, A.J. Couto and Joe Strangie also had hits.Beverly 11, Salem 4At Beverly, Joe Wioncek had a pair of homers and Pat Wilson pitched a complete game as the Panthers (12-6) picked up the win.In other action, Saugus clinched a tournament berth with a 9-1 win at Winthrop and St. John’s game with Central Catholic was postponed due to field conditions. It will be played today (3) in Lawrence.
