MARBLEHEAD – A Marblehead man is behind bars after he allegedly bit and punched his pregnant girlfriend during a drunken haze on Tuesday night, according to police and court reports.Christopher Joseph Tome, 22, of 126 Pleasant St., #1, was charged with domestic assault and battery, aggravated assault and battery with multiple bites to a pregnant woman, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Tome was arraigned Wednesday at Lynn District Court by Judge Ellen Flatley and ordered held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail with the condition that he stay away from and not contact the victim. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for June 24.According to court documents, police were notified of a woman screaming on Pleasant Street and quickly arrived on scene with an ambulance in tow. Yelling and arguing could be heard from inside the apartment as officers peered through a broken pane of glass. After several knocks on the door, officers kicked it open and found the victim and Tome standing in the hallway. Tome was allegedly loud, intoxicated and argumentative, while the victim appeared distraught and crying with blood on her nose, mouth and arms. Blood was also found splattered on the floor as officers spoke to the victim to find out what happened, according to court reports. She had bite marks on her back, neck and arms, including injuries to her nose and lips, where police say it appeared as if she had been punched or bitten. She also had marks on her arm where Tome allegedly forcefully grabbed or held her. While officers were speaking to the victim, Tome allegedly yelled continuously that he didn’t do anything and said he was a mixed martial arts fighter and wanted to fight the officers without their guns or badges. He was arrested at that point and taken in for booking, where police say he slammed his head against the booking cage and the walls, causing a gash, and drooled and spit on himself. He was later taken to North Shore Medical Center for an evaluation. The victim said the whole argument started over her being fed up with Tome’s alleged drinking habits. After she told him that she wanted out of their relationship, she alleged that Tome refused to let her leave the apartment, grabbed her by the arms and punched her in the nose, which also cut her lip, according to court reports. As blood ran down her face, she alleged Tome bit her on the back of her shoulder, the back of her head behind her ear and also on her arm. Police say all three bite marks were visible, but did not appear to have broken the skin.According to a Gloucester police report, Tome allegedly assaulted an officer in 2010 while intoxicated and bit one of his fingers.
