SWAMPSCOTT – Superintendent Lynne Celli said a middle school teacher has been put on paid administrative leave after appearing in a video that was broadcast on the Internet, but would offer no further comment beyond a prepared statement.”The Swampscott superintendent has learned that a Swampscott teacher has appeared in a video which was available on the Internet,” the statement read. “The school administration has begun a comprehensive investigation and the teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation. There will be no further comment as the investigation is ongoing.”Celli did not identify the teacher involved, nor did she discuss the nature of the video. She said she could not answer any questions about how long the investigation would last.School Committee Chair Jacqueline Kinney said that the matter was “a personnel matter and being investigated at the school.” She referred further questions to the superintendent’s office.Swampscott Police Detective Tim Cassidy said that he “was not aware of any criminal investigation,” as a result of the video.
